(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- During a recent heated exchange between Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and Dr. Anthony Fauci, Senator Paul accused the flip-flopping Fauci of lying to Congress during his previous testimony specifically in regards to the NIH’s funding-of-gain of function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Paul cited a paper from the “Bat Lady” of Wuhan in which she credits the NIH for the funding of the research.
In response, Fauci grew angry and defensive, accusing Senator Paul of not knowing what he’s talking about. Fauci claims that the paper Senator Paul was citing was not about gain-of-function research. Paul, however, read back to Fauci the NIH description of gain-of-function which clearly falls in line with what the paper is describing.

While Fauci maintained that he didn’t lie, recently uncovered video calls into question the veracity of his claim.
At a January 2018 NIAID Advisory Council Meeting, Dr. Fauci explained the process by which the NIH would determine funding for gain of function research.

Admittedly, in this video Fauci doesn’t mention the Wuhan Institute of Virology. But taken as a whole, this video is still revealing.
Late last week, Senator Paul sent a criminal referral to the Department of Justice requesting Attorney General Merrick Garland investigate Dr. Fauci for lying to Congress over his testimony in May.
In his criminal referral, Paul cites the NIH grants to Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance which sent funding to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to carry out gain-of-function research.
Whether the Department of Justice is likely to take action on Senator Paul’s criminal referral is anybody’s guess. However, given the DOJ’s decision not to open a civil rights investigation into the tens of thousands of nursing home deaths in New York, Pennsylvania or Michigan, the odds are not particularly good.
It’s worth remembering that when Roger Stone lied to Congress during the RussiaGate investigation, an armed FBI SWAT team turned up at his home in the wee hours of the morning with a CNN news crew in tow to take him into custody.
Even if the DOJ opens a criminal investigation of Fauci’s false statements, it stands to reason he will never be subjected to the same over-the-top treatment used on Roger Stone.
