Anthony Blinken Firing Requested By RNC

( On Monday, the Republican National Committee called on President Joe Biden to fire Secretary of State Antony Blinken over his horrible handling of the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

According to a Newsweek report, the RNC slammed Blinken for putting American lives in danger by encouraging the withdrawal of U.S. troops before all civilians had been safely evacuated. The RNC also referenced the hundreds of Americans who are “still trapped in Afghanistan.”

The Biden administration has not admitted an exact number of Americans stuck in Afghanistan, but predictions range from 100 to several thousand.

“Blinken’s disastrous handling of Afghanistan and weak leadership put American lives in danger, including the lives of Americans still trapped in Afghanistan,” the RNC said.

The State Department is facing increasing pressure to take action against those responsible for the withdrawal, with people in both parties criticizing the way it was handled. Instead of sticking to former President Donald Trump’s plan, which included striking back at the Taliban and ending the withdrawal if they encroached further into Afghanistan before all Americans had left, President Joe Biden simply trusted the Taliban and put Americans in danger as a result.

Secretary of State Blinken has attempted to deflect that criticism and blame former President Donald Trump for the disaster, pointing to the deal made by the Trump administration and the Taliban before Biden entered office.

Blinken had predicted in June that the Taliban would not be capable of taking over the country “from a Friday to a Monday,” but that’s basically what happened. It took a matter of hours and days before Afghanistan was terrorized by Taliban insurgents, and the American military effectively gifted tens of billions of dollars of military equipment to the Taliban thanks to the hasty withdrawal Biden ordered.

In a prepared statement, Blinken said that “even the most pessimistic assessment did not predict that government forces in Kabul would collapse while U.S. forced remained.”

Doesn’t that mean the RNC is entirely right to call for his resignation? If their most pessimistic assessments were wrong?

Let’s see if Blinken or Biden do the right thing…

We won’t hold our breath.
