(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Kamala Harris represents an interesting choice as running mate for presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden for a number of reasons.
During the primaries, when she herself was running for president, Harris attacked Biden’s history of voting against busing policies. She was one of the harshest candidates toward Biden, in fact.
She’s also been thought to have much higher aspirations than vice president. Many people have predicted that she’ll be campaigning for president the minute she gets into office — if the pair were elected come November.
What’s more, she has shown a serious anti-Catholic bias while her potential boss has consistently said that he is a good, faithful Catholic.
The progressive Senator from California has insinuated in the recent past that Catholics are unfit to serve in courts. This all came to light in late 2018, during the nomination hearings for Brian Buescher, who was picked to be a district judge in Nebraska.
During the hearings, Harris posed questions that insinuated that Buescher’s involved with the Knights of Columbus disqualified him from serving as a judge on the bench. The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal nonprofit organization.
One of Harris’ written questions submitted to Buescher was:
“Since 1993, you have been a member of the Knights of Columbus, an all-male society comprised primarily of Catholic men. In 2016, Carl Anderson, leader of the Knights of Columbus, described abortion as ‘a legal regime that has resulted in more than 40 million deaths.’ Mr. Anderson went on to say that ‘abortion is the killing of the innocent on a massive scale.’ Were you aware that the Knights of Columbus opposed a woman’s right to choose when you joined the organization.”
She further asked Buescher if he was “aware that the Knights of Columbus opposed marriage equality when [he] joined the organization” and also whether he’d “ever, in any way, assisted with or contributed to advocacy against women’s reproductive rights.”
That set up Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono, also a Democrat, to ask Buescher if he intended to “end [his] membership with this organization to avoid any appearance of bias.”
Apparently, according to Harris, belonging to a Catholic charitable organization makes one unfit to be an impartial judge. She also insinuated that just being a member of the Knights of Columbus automatically means someone shouldn’t serve on a court bench.
Her reasoning, apparently, is that a primary teaching of the Catholic Church is an opposition to abortion, and the value of human life.
She seemed to care about that in 2018 during this judge’s confirmation hearing, but she easily overlooked Biden’s connection to Catholicism when she accepted his job offer of vice president.
Think political aspirations were part of her motive there? It’s hard for Harris to justify blasting one person for his connection to Catholics while standing next to another person who has consistently proclaimed the same.
The fact that Harris was willing to bring one’s religion into question about whether one could do their job properly should be downright scary to voters come November.
