(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- President Joe Biden said he was ‘surprised to learn’ he had classified government documents at his D.C. think tank and is ‘cooperating fully’ with a Justice Department investigation. He also defended having the cache of classified material – reported on Ukraine, Iran, and the United Kingdom – as House Republicans formally announced an investigation.
Republican Rep. Jim Jordan has asked the National Archives and the White House Counsel’s Office for all documents related to discovering secret documents belonging to former Vice President Joe Biden at the think tank. Republicans also want to know why it wasn’t announced until after the midterm elections – with one calling it a ‘cover-up.’
The former US Attorney General for the Northern District of Illinois, John Lausch, was appointed by President Donald Trump to review the ten classified documents discovered at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement.
The documents date back to Biden’s service as vice president for President Barack Obama, and, he says, he doesn’t know what is in them .’People know I take classified documents classified information seriously,’ Biden said at a press conference in Mexico City. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were in attendance.
Under the Presidential Records Act, all documents from a president’s administration must be turned over to the National Archives, including the vice president, who Biden served as then.
The White House underlined that Biden’s lawyers discovered the papers and quickly gave them to the Archives.
In Trump’s instance, the Archives discovered missing records from his administration and asked for their return.
Trump eventually handed over 15 cartons of paperwork to the organization, including some secret information. Federal agents obtained a judge’s approval to search Mar-a-Lago when they believed the former president was holding onto further records.
In August, that search produced additional papers.
As of this writing, secret documents belonging to Biden have been continually popping up in various locations.
