Biden’s Attorney General Wants To Prosecute Donald Trump

( During a recent interview, Attorney General Merrick Garland didn’t rule out the possibility of prosecuting former President Donald Trump over his alleged involvement in the riot at the US Capitol on January 6, even if Trump runs again in 2024.

When asked by NBC News’ Lester Holt last Tuesday if prosecuting Trump was a possibility even if he announces another run for the White House, Garland said the Department of Justice will “pursue justice without fear or favor.”

Garland said the DOJ intends to hold accountable anyone who was “criminally responsible” for “any attempt to interfere with the lawful transfer of power.”

“That’s what we do,” Garland added.

Lester Holt wasn’t satisfied with this answer. He wanted to know specifically if Donald Trump becoming a 2024 candidate would influence Garland’s decision.

But Garland only reiterated that the DOJ will hold anyone “who is criminally responsible” accountable for attempting to interfere with the “lawful transfer of power.”

Poor Lester Holt. Garland just wouldn’t give him the soundbite he so desperately wanted.

Holt then asked Garland if a criminal referral from the January 6 select committee would be welcomed by the Department of Justice.

But Garland would only say it was up to the committee to decide if they send the Justice Department a criminal referral. He added that the style or manner of information the committee sends isn’t of “particular significance from any legal point of view.”

Ouch! Holt just can’t get a win here.

Garland said the Justice Department would have its own investigation that it would pursue “through the principles of prosecution.”
