Billionaire Game Of Thrones Tycoon Dead After Being Poisoned

( A 39-year-old Netflix producers and games developer was hospitalized on December 16 and died on Christmas day following rumors of a murder plot by a co-worker.

Lin Qi, who is the founder and chairman of Yoozoo Group, a Chinese company that is best known for developing the Game of Thrones “Winter Is Coming” game, was poisoned and hospitalized earlier in the month and has since died.

Qi’s reported net worth is more than one billion dollars – 6.8billion yuan – and was listed as one of the executive producers of Games of Thrones. A senior executive of Yoozoo’s television and film division, Xu Yao, has reportedly been arrested following the death.

Local media outlets in China report that there were rumors of a major dispute among the executives in the company, and plots to kill Lin Qi to resolve it.

Back in September, Netflix hired the creators of the Game of Thrones television series, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, to turn the popular sci-fi book series “The Three-Body Problem” into a new TV series in the hope that they might enjoy similar success with the franchise. Lin Qui had sold the adaptation rights to the books to Netflix, and disputes over the production of the series reportedly led to his poisoning.

Chinese media outlets said that he was poisoned when drinking pu-erh tea.

Shanghai police released a statement on Wednesday saying they received a call from a hospital with the surname Lin at 5pm on December 17.

“According to investigations on-site and further interviews, the police found that a suspect surnamed Xu, who is a coworker of the victim Lin, was the most likely perpetrator. The suspect Xu has been arrested and investigations continue,” the statement continued.

Netflix has not yet provided a comment on the poisoning, and the co-president of Yoozoo Chen Fang told local press that reports about fighting among the company’s executives were wrong.

The Morning Post claimed that Yoozoo told employees that they hold “radical people and [such] behavior will not change our well wishes for the world or change our destination.”

How are we supposed to treat China like any other country when they have an authoritarian communist government, they covered up the COVID-19 outbreak, and businesses appear to resolve their issues with…poison?
