Bush Foundation Defends CCP In Disgusting Turn

(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- In early June, Axios reported that the George H.W. Bush Foundation for US-China Relations agreed to accept a $5 million grant from the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF). The CUSEF leadership is closely tied to Chinese government officials and is believed to be an arm of Beijing’s political influence operations.

The grant agreement was signed in September 2019 and calls for CUSEF to donate one million dollars a year to the Bush China Foundation from 2019 until 2023.

A spokesperson for the Bush China Foundation confirmed that this grant was received but scoffed at the idea that CUSEF is connected to the Communist Chinese Party, saying “we do not buy into that narrative.”

CUSEF is run by Hong Kong city’s former chief executive Tung Chee Hwa. Tung is also the vice-chair of a Beijing-based advisory body which promotes the Chinese Communist Party’s political aims that is chaired by a member of the CCP Politburo.

The 2019 grant agreement makes it clear that the Bush China Foundation will not act as an agent for foreign interests. However, that hasn’t stopped the President of the Bush China Foundation from acting as an advocate for the Communist Chinese Government.

The National Pulse reported this week that David Firestein, Foundation president, appeared on China’s state-run television network during its coverage marking the 100th anniversary of the Communist Chinese Party. During the segment Firestein praised the CCP’s “good governance” and achievements.

Calling the Chinese Communist government “flexible” and “nimble,” Firestein poured on the praise. He believes, he said, that the CCP “no doubt looks to the future with a great sense of confidence.” For his part, Firestein said her “certainly would hope that the Communist Party will continue to embrace reform and opening and progress and good governance at home and peace and development abroad.” No doubt with the helpful assistance of the Bush China Foundation.

But this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

To think that Joe Biden is the only Establishment politician who benefits financially from close ties to the Communist Chinese Party would be deeply naïve.

On Tuesday, the Federalist published a piece titled “Is the Entire Democratic Party Compromised by China?” In quote-tweeting the link, Senator Ted Cruz offered a one-word answer to the question: “Yes.”

But China’s tentacles do not stop with just the Democrats. It is a bipartisan problem and one that might explain why so few in Congress, the State Department or the White House are willing to deal directly with the threat to US economic and national security posed by the Communist Chinese.
