China Claims Missile Launch Reports Are False

( On Monday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphatically denied reports that it had tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile in August, stunning American intelligence analysts. But at the same time, President Joe Biden didn’t seem to think the story was false and told the press that he “welcomes stiff competition.”

That’s quite a departure from the tough talk that we saw with former President Donald Trump. Maybe it has something to do with his family’s business dealings over there?

On Saturday, reports suggested that the American intelligence community was taken aback when China performed a secret test of a new intercontinental ballistic missile and that the missile circled the entire planet in low orbit before deploying a hypersonic vehicle that delivered a simulated payload over the hypothetical target area.

These hypersonic vehicles maneuver at extremely high speeds at a low altitude, effectively allowing them to avoid interceptors and tracking systems powered by artificial intelligence.

The shocking reports raised fears that China is preparing for conflict with the West, but according to China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, the test that was described in the report wasn’t quite what really happened. Instead, the spokesman said that it was a “routine spacecraft experiment” that was designed to verify the reusable technology of their spacecraft.

Zhao appeared to be referring to technology similar to the rockets developed by Elon Musk’s Space X, which allows rockets to launch, deliver a payload, and then land back on earth and be reused.

“What separated from the spacecraft before returning was the supporting equipment of the spacecraft, which was burned and disintegrated in the process of falling into the atmosphere and landed on the high seas,” Zhao claimed.

United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin declined to comment on reports about the hypersonic weapons tests during a Monday press conference. We don’t know whether that’s strategic, or whether he just doesn’t know anything about it.

Do you believe China?
