Ahead of the 2024 presidential election, former South Carolina governor and presidential candidate Nikki Haley is warning of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) building up their military, according to The Daily Wire. She reportedly made her warning on Fox News Sunday, saying that this buildup has been going on for decades in anticipation of a war with the United States.
Speaking to Shannon Bream, Haley said that while President Joe Biden is focusing on a radical left agenda, like gender ideology, China has grown more powerful. She noted the sizable number of their naval fleet, which is currently the largest in the world at 340 ships contrasted with the U.S.’s 293. She claimed that in two years China will have grown that number to 400, whereas the U.S. will not reach that number in two decades.
She said that the communist country must be dealt with in three ways— diplomatically, economically, and militarily. Haley then proposed that the U.S. prohibit Chinese agents from buying up American farmland. Foreign ownership of U.S. land has increased in recent years from China, Russia, and Iran, according to American Pigeon. Bills have been introduced in the 117th Congress, but action has yet to be taken.
Haley added that needs to stop allowing Chinese money to funnel into American universities and stop allowing China to bring fentanyl across the southern border. She suggested that Chinese companies are actually CCP agents and named Huawei, Tencent, and Alibaba.
The candidate’s hard stance on China has made the communist country respond. Beijing reportedly rebuked Haley. The spokesman for China’s embassy in Washington called the remark irresponsible, adding that if Chinese companies left the U.S. it would hurt everyone.
U.S. officials report that China has not cooperated with the U.S. on fentanyl or money laundering as it relates to the drug.
