(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- An Illinois Democratic lawmaker has called for schools to abolish history classes in their current form because he believes they are making society racist.
Teaching history is racism now.
NBC Chicago reports how State Rep. La Shawn K. Ford told local journalists that the current history lesson program “leads to white privilege and a racist society.” Ford made the comments during a gathering of local politicians and education workers in Evanston. He said that the Illinois State Board of Education should change their program as it overlooks the contributions of minorities and women in American history.
NBC Chicago reported how Ford’s office also distributed a press release making the incredible claims before the event was held. It was titled, “Rep. Ford Today in Evanston to Call for the Abolishment of History Classes in Illinois Schools.”
“Concerned that current school history teaching leads to white privilege and a racist society, state Rep. Law Shawn K. Ford, D-Chicago, will join local leaders today at noon at the Robert Crown Center in Evanston to call on the state to stop its current history teaching practices until appropriate alternatives are developed,” the statement says.
It continues by explaining that attendees at the conference will discuss the alleged failings of the current history curriculum, and how it fails to acknowledge the contributions of “Black, Jewish, LGBTQ communities and other groups.”
Just how big a part did the T or Q part of LGBTQ play in the history of the United States? Genuine question.
Ford said that until a “suitable alternative is developed” (presumably one that he, personally, approves of) then the school system should instead “devote greater attention toward civics and ensuring students understand our democratic processes and how they can be involved.”
How can students be properly equipped to engage in democratic elections in the future if they don’t even understand the history of their own country?
Ford also slipped in his opposition to the Confederate flag, too, saying he was “alarmed” that people continue to display “symbols of hate” in the area.
Far-left politics is creeping into education, so much so that history classes could be banned as a result. Is now the time for sane people to start homeschooling?
