(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Cleveland police are investigating the murder of the 24-year-old grandson of Cleveland’s current mayor. Frank Q. Jackson, the grandson of Mayor Frank G. Jackson, was shot and killed Sunday night near a public housing complex in the city.
Shortly before the shooting, someone dropped the younger Jackson off near the intersection of Sidaway Avenue and East 70th Street. Then an unknown assailant ran up to Jackson and shot him multiple times.
Jackson was later discovered lying dead in a yard.
Several hours after the shooting, both Mayor Jackson and Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams arrived at the scene. Also on hand was an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
So far authorities have not released any further details on the shooting, nor have they identified any suspects or possible motive.
Frank Q. Jackson is not unknown to the police. The mayor’s grandson has a lengthy rap sheet that includes gun charges, drug arrests, and assault charges.
He was charged in 2017 for carrying a concealed weapon. And in 2019, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault related to a fight with a girlfriend. Jackson did no jail time for that assault. Instead, he received 18 months’ probation.
In December 2020, he was charged with domestic violence involving his girlfriend – a charge that was still pending at the time of his death.
Jackson was also facing felony assault charges related to a January incident when he allegedly dragged a Parma, Ohio police officer while attempting to flee the scene of a traffic stop. After the officer got free of the vehicle, Jackson then led police on a miles-long high speed chase that reached to Cleveland’s West Side where Parma police called off the chase after Jackson reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour. A few hours later he turned himself in to Parma police.
At his arraignment in July, Jackson pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released from custody on a $10,000 bond. Jackson was scheduled to appear in court in November.
