(TheLibertyRevolution.com) – Just when you thought CNN couldn’t stoop any lower, the far-left news outlet described an abortion survivor as a “fetus that was born.”
Just let that one sink in.
The comment came during coverage of a Senate vote on Tuesday. The proposed legislation was designed to protect babies who survive abortions and who are born alive. The legislation would also have made it illegal to perform abortions after 20 weeks, a time in which most doctors and scientists agree that a baby can feel pain. The two pieces of legislation, respectively, were the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
During CNN’s coverage of the vote, the news outlet published an article by Caroline Kelly in which she described a baby born alive after a botched abortion as a “fetus that was born.” Not as a baby, or a living and breathing child, but simply a fetus that was born.
Do they have no shame?
CNN did not respond to requests for comment.
Alexandra DeSanctis, a staff writer for the National Review and host of a pro-life podcast, changed her Twitter name to “Alexandra ‘fetus that was born’ DeSanctis” and tweeted about the commentary. DeSanctis noted that while CNN called the legislation an “abortion restriction bill,” it actually proposed no such thing.
“Here’s the @CNN coverage of today’s votes, referring to the born-alive bill as an ‘abortion restriction bill’ even though it places no limits on when or whether women can obtain abortions but merely requires care for newborn infants,” she said.

In the CNN article, Caroline Kelly wrote, “The second bill to be considered Tuesday is the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, sponsored by Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, that would require abortion providers to work to ‘preserve the life and health’ of a fetus that was born following an attempted abortion as they would for a newborn baby, or face up to five years in prison.”
The claim, simply, is untrue.
The bill protects the lives of children who have been born after surviving an abortion. And that’s all there is to it.
Not just fake news, but bad morals, too!
