(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Dr. Anthony Fauci just keeps leaping from one controversy to another. On Monday, the head of the federal government’s COVID-19 response and the leader of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases attempted to downplay the results of a study from a respected medical research organization that showed the Pfizer vaccine to be less effective than Moderna’s offering.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a study shows that both of the mRNA COVID vaccines developed by Moderna and Pfizer were not as effective at protecting people against the virus as originally thought. Researchers said that the vaccines still provide a good level of protection against the Chinese vaccine, but that the Pfizer offering is only around 42% effective.
The Moderna vaccine still holds up fairly well, with an effectiveness of 76%.
And it makes sense. The number of “breakthrough” cases has skyrocketed recently, with people who thought they were protected by the vaccine still finding themselves sick.
It makes you wonder whether people who have naturally recovered from the virus are falling sick at the same rate as vaccinated people…
Fauci told CBS’s “Face the Nation” that the study is pre-print, meaning that it has yet to be peer-reviewed. It gives him a chance to escape criticism over his encouragement for every American to take the vaccine, but only until the peer-reviewing process begins.
The study, which was performed by Cambridge-based biotech company “nference,” was published by medRxiv.org, and used data from 25,000 Minnesota residents. The data was obtained between January and July.
Fauci said that he doesn’t doubt the fact that people who are vaccinated are becoming infected by COVID, but added that there are many “confounding variables” – including people who were infected with the Alpha or Delta virus.
He also added that both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines should be used by Americans as booster shots – which is convenient, as President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that all Americans should take a third shot of the vaccine eight months after taking the second shot.
What will Fauci and the federal government do if it turns out that this vaccine is nowhere near as effective as originally thought?
