(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- The absolute refusal by the Biden campaign to answer whether or not they intend to pack the Supreme Court is so egregious that even left-wing journalists are pressing them on it. CNN anchor Jake Tapper prompted Kate Bedingfield, the communications director for the Biden campaign, to answer the question during a recent interview after their party’s candidate refused to answer on several occasions.
Once again, though, Bedingfield proved that the Democrats don’t want to admit that they may be planning to appoint new Supreme Court Justices to get their own way.
In the interview, Tapper noted how Biden had previously described court packing as a “bonehead idea” and that he now appeared to be unwilling to answer the question. He also referenced how Biden last week told journalists that he believes voters do not deserve to know his opinion.
“Biden opposes adding more justices to the Supreme Court, he has for decades, so why is he refusing to weigh in on it now?” Tapper asked Bedingfield.
Slightly loaded, of course, but this is CNN we’re talking about.
Bedingfield responded with the official party line – that the Republicans are trying to “distract” by demanding an answer on such an important political issue.
“Because Donald Trump and the Republicans don’t get to set the terms of this debate,” she responded.
But Tapper didn’t stop there.
“It’s not the Trump people who invented this question, right?” he responded. “The idea of adding justices to the Supreme Court came from the progressive side of the Democratic Party. It’s a simple question. He has long been against adding justices to the court. Has he changed his mind or does he have the same position he’s had since 1983?”
If Biden was still opposed to court-packing as he used to be, he could have said so by now. Bedingfield could have said so, too, but she didn’t.
Instead, the Biden communications director simply said that the Republicans wanted to change the conversation from the (legitimate) nomination and likely confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.
During the primary race, Senator Kamala Harris – who became the vice-presidential pick for Joe Biden – said that she was “open” to the discussion of packing the Supreme Court.
Maybe that answers the question.
