Former Vaccine Official To Testify Before House Committee After Filing Whistleblower Complaint

(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Dr. Rick Bright will testify before a House committee on Thursday after filing a whistleblower complaint last week that said he was removed from his position for opposing a drug that President Donald Trump was pushing as a cure for coronavirus.
Bright was the head of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, which is a part of an office of the Department of Health and Human Services. BARD has been an integral part of the fight against coronavirus pandemic here in the United States.
Bright was set to lead the public-private partnership on the development of a COVID-19 vaccine and treatment. He never assumed that role, though, and was abruptly removed from his post on April 20. He was transferred that day to a new role to work on coronavirus diagnostics at the National Institutes of Health.
Bright said this was done because he said his early warnings about coronavirus went ignored, and he opposed using hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19. He hasn’t yet accepted that transfer.
Bright claims he was removed from his post because his thoughts were in opposition to Trump and the administration. Specifically, he said in a statement that he believes he was transferred out of his post because of his “insistence that the government invest the billions of dollars allocated by Congress to address the COVID-19 pandemic into safe and scientifically vetted solutions, and not in drugs, vaccines and other technologies that lack scientific merit.”
After filing his complaint, he got on a call with reporters where he said he “was pressured to let politics and cronyism drive decisions over the opinions of the best scientists we have in government.”
Bright’s lawyers said the investigative office that reviewed his whistleblower complaint determined there was reason to believe he was removed from his post as retaliation for his comments.
When Bright initially aired his thoughts and complaints, administration officials began alleging that Bright was poorly managing his office, failed to consult with his superiors on decisions of consequence and mistreated his staff, according to his lawyers.
His most recent performance review from May 2019, though, gave rave reviews and had no criticisms, according to CNN, which obtained a copy of the review.
At the same time, a good portion of what’s in Bright’s complaint is under dispute. For example, a Politico report says a person in Bright’s office filed a complaint last summer over his leadership in the office. And some of his allegations regarding decisions being made on COVID-19 in his office don’t match public record or statements from other officials.
The topic of credibility is likely to be a major sticking point during testimony on Thursday. Bright’s own credibility is sure to be challenged, especially since his claims in the whistleblower complaint seem to be in contrast with some public records and the statements made by other officials.
At the same time, the credibility of other officials in his department is likely to be questioned as well, since the entire ordeal is about whether Bright was wrongly removed from his post due to politics.
