Giant Explosions Heard In Russia

(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Local media sites have stated that there have been explosions at two Russian air bases.

On Monday, an explosion was reported to have shaken an airfield near the city of Ryazan, southeast of Moscow, by the state-run Russian news agencies TASS and RIA Novosti, and a sizable explosion was also reported at a different Russian military air base in the Saratov region, about 600 kilometers east of Ukraine.

The Ryazan explosion left three persons dead and six injured, according to TASS, while RIA Novosti cited an emergency services source who claimed that the explosion happened after a fuel tanker caught fire and destroyed an airplane.

Videos making the rounds on social media on Monday morning at around 6 a.m. local time purported to show a sizable explosion at the Engels-2 air base in Saratov.

Two TU-95 aircraft were damaged following a suspected drone attack on an air base in Russian Engels, Saratov region, according to a tweet from Anton Gerashchenko, counselor to the interior minister of Ukraine.

According to Gerashchenko, the Engels Airbase is one of the places where Russian aircraft launch rockets into Ukraine.

Roman Busargin, the governor of Saratov, released a statement advising citizens to maintain calm but made no more mention of the alleged explosion.

He wrote that he wanted to stress that there have been no remarkable occurrences in the city’s residential areas. “There is nothing to worry about. Nothing in the civil infrastructure has been harmed. Security organizations are investigating information about activities at military locations.”

Authorities are looking into “incidents at military locations,” he claimed.

On Monday, Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, told reporters that he did not know what caused the explosions.

Both incidents remain unreported by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to the Russian news outlet Interfax, Engels is home to an airstrip used by long-range strategic aircraft.

According to unnamed sources cited by the independent Russian Telegram channel ASTRA, the Engels explosion was brought on by a drone colliding with the air base. According to the report, two long-range Tupolev Tu-95 bombers were damaged, and two soldiers suffered injuries.

Ukraine has not yet taken responsibility for the blasts, but an air force spokesman asked, “And who did it?” on Facebook.
