(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Hillary Clinton the hypocrite was at it again Monday, casting her ballot in the Electoral College while simultaneously calling for its abolition.
The failed presidential nominee from 2016 has consistently called for the end of the Electoral College since the 2000 presidential election. However, at the same time, she’s participating in the process by being one of the electors from New York.
On Monday, she cast her vote for Democrats Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Clinton didn’t let the opportunity pass her by after she did so. She tweeted a picture of herself holding a thumbs up after she cast her voted Monday, along with the statement:
“I believe we should abolish the Electoral College and select our president by the winner of the popular vote, same as every other office. But while it still exists, I was proud to cast my vote in New York for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
What a way to step up and fight for what you believe in, Hillary!
Instead of boycotting the vote or simply choosing not to be an elector in New York, Clinton decided instead to march right along and participate in the process that she despises so much — but only when it doesn’t benefit her and her Democratic cronies, apparently.
On Monday, she cast her vote alongside her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. New York had 29 total electors casting a vote for Biden.
Clinton first complained about the Electoral College during the 2000 election. In that election, Republican George W. Bush defeated Democrat Al Gore with 271 electoral votes compared to 266. But Gore had more popular votes (50,999,897) than Bush did (50,456,062).
Following that election — which was the election including her husband Bill’s vice president, Gore — Hillary said:
“I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it’s time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president.”
Sixteen years later, the same thing happened to Clinton herself. She lost the presidential election to President Donald Trump by a count of 304 electoral votes to only 227. Clinton won the popular vote, though, with 65,853,514 votes compared to Trump’s 62,984.828.
Following this election, Clinton bashed the Electoral College again, saying:
“I think it needs to be eliminated. I’d like to see us move beyond it, yes.”
The Electoral College has been part of America’s history since the beginning. It’s written into the Constitution, and the Founding Fathers obviously had a good reason for doing so.
Clinton, though, thinks an amendment to that Constitution should be passed that would overturn the Electoral College and go to a nationwide popular vote.
It would be interesting to see what Hillary’s position would be if the roles were reversed — if she had won the Electoral College and not the popular vote. She’d probably be touting how great of a system we have here in America.
