Josh Hawley Is Preparing To Wage War Against DOJ

( In an exclusive interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation, Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri stated that if Republicans regain the Senate in November, he intends to enhance oversight of the FBI.

Before his Monday speech at the National Conservatism Conference in Miami, Florida, Hawley discussed his concerns over Attorney General Merrick Garland, the FBI, and other issues he feels the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which he is a member, should prioritize. He asserted that the Homeland Security Committee, of which he is a member, should concentrate on pressuring the Biden administration to impose immigration laws and fortify the border.’

He said we must effectively oversee the Justice Department. The FBI, which is entirely out of control, has been under no monitoring from this DOJ, he claimed.

Republicans reacted angrily to the DOJ’s recent raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, which Hawley and others saw as the DOJ and FBI being used as weapons against the administration’s political adversaries. Others have argued that, given the attempted assassination of Brett Kavanaugh, the DOJ is focusing on Trump and targeting parents who spoke out against Critical Race Theory and sex and gender-related curricula at school board meetings while conservatives are being threatened.

Hawley reaffirmed his demand for Garland to be removed from office and referred to him as one of the worst attorneys generals the nation has ever had.

He told the DCNF, “Garland should have been gone a long time ago.” Anyone who can lead a DOJ that views parents as domestic terrorists while maintaining a straight face is unfit for office. He has testified before the Judiciary Committee and other committees on several occasions, and he believes he has willfully misled Congress each time.

Republicans, according to Hawley, should concentrate on immigration enforcement through the Senate Judiciary Committee, which oversees immigration legislation. Since President Joe Biden took office, the number of migrants entering the country illegally has increased significantly, with 3,463,430 persons being apprehended at the southern border between January 2021 and August 2022, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

He mentioned his position on the Homeland Security Committee, which he said also needs to concentrate on immigration enforcement, and said, “We’re going to have to think about what we can do to get this administration to enforce the law at the border.”

The DCNF requested comments from the DOJ and Department of Homeland Security, but neither organization responded immediately.
