(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Attorney General William Barr has been at the center of controversy for seemingly his entire time in his position. Now, he’s starting to bear the brunt of attacks from conservatives and the Trump administration, too.
During the opening monologue for her “Justice with Judge Jeanine” show on Fox News recently, Jeanine Pirro blasted Barr. She said he’s “so deep in the swamp you can’t see beyond your fellow reptiles.”
The attack came after Barr drew President Donald Trump’s ire when he said both the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice “looked into” the president’s claims of election fraud, but haven’t found anything substantial that would change the results of the election.
On Thursday, a reporter asked the president if he still had confidence in his attorney general. Trump responded by saying:
“Ask me that in a number of weeks from now. They should be looking at all of this fraud. This is not civil. This is criminal stuff. This is very bad criminal stuff.”
Those developments last week prompted Pirro’s attacked Saturday night. She said Barr “has proven himself to be anything other than extraordinary.”
She continued:
“This week, Barr commented that he has not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election. Really? It’s curious, Barr, the head of the DOJ, would affirmatively make a statement regarding a pending investigation. As a former prosecutor, for over three decades, I and virtually everyone similarly situated know that DOJ guidelines do not allow comment on investigations. They neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation.”
Pirro then attacked Barr for going “beyond that” and sharing “information on the pending investigations.”
She concluded her attack on the attorney general by saying:
“We need answers. We need action. We need justice. And you, Mr. Barr, are so deep in the swamp you can’t see beyond your fellow reptiles, and you are not the exceptional leader needed at this exceptional time in history.”
For his part, Barr is apparently weighing whether he should resign from his position before Trump leaves office, should Democrat Joe Biden be certified as the next president. That’s according to multiple reports as well as one from the New York Post.
Barr and the president had what sources termed a “contentious” meeting at the White House last week. Allegedly, though, the attorney general was considering stepping down from his position even before the contentious meeting and before he made those comments to the Associated Press.
According to the sources, Barr first brought up the idea to his close associates not long after Election Day. He subscribed to the notion that Biden had won the election, and was thinking about stepping down before he thought Trump could take aim at him.
He told the same associates that he would’ve wanted to stay on as attorney general under a Trump second term, but apparently, he has bought hook, line and sinker into mainstream media’s calling of the election for Biden.
