(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- After John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation (which was based on fake evidence and ultimately revealed that the former president had no connection to Russian banks after all) finally produced some findings, Republicans are sounding the alarm that the judge appointed to a man indicted by Durham may have serious conflicts of interest.
This month, former Democratic National Committee-connected lawyer Michael Sussman was indicted by special counsel John Durham. Sussman, who worked for the Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential campaign, is accused of lying to the FBI ahead of the opening of an investigation into claims that Trump had a secret server to communicate with Russia.
Former Trump officials and a number of high-profile elected Republicans have suggested that federal District Court Judge Christopher Cooper has too many personal and professional relationships with various top Democrats and officials involved with the FBI investigation to be able to fairly oversee the case.
An example of this is Judge Cooper’s wife, who currently represents former FBI lawyer Lisa Page who was responsible for overseeing the FBI’s Trump investigation.
Sussman previously met with former FBI General Counsel James baker in 2016, who was Page’s boss at the time. He is understood to have given Baker documents that made false claims about the Trump Organization having secret computer servers that served as a secret channel to communicate with Kremlin-linked Russian financial institutions.
John Durham alleges that the documents, which contain plainly false information, were given to the FBI to push a false narrative dreamed up by the Clinton campaign to stop Trump from winning the election. Sussman then billed the Clinton campaign for the meeting, while at the same time claiming to the FBI that he wasn’t working for a client.
He was.
Sussman has pled not guilty but will soon go to court and is expected to appear before Judge Cooper – an Obama-appointed judge who remains extremely connected within the Democratic Party. Cooper’s wedding was officiated by current United States Attorney General Merrick Garland.
How can these connections not play a role in whether or not Sussman is convicted for lying to the FBI to advance the Clinton campaign?
