(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- It’s no secret that people simply don’t like Vice President Kamala Harris, but it’s starting to cause people within the Democratic Party to be concerned.
Some officials in the party are concerned that Harris’ continuing low polling numbers could complicate matters as the Biden administration is starting to map out the midterm strategy.
Various polls indicate that Harris is viewed much less favorably than President Joe Biden. Some Democrats say the missteps Harris has made show that she hasn’t gotten her bearings about her in office yet.
It’s not surprising that the vice president would have lower polling than the president. At the same time, Harris’ low polling numbers are very concerning to Democrats.
RealClearPolitics put together an aggregate average of three recent surveys. They showed that Harris had an unfavorable rating of 46%. Biden, meanwhile, had a 43% unfavorable rating.
Harris’ unfavorable rating was an even higher 48% in a recent Economist-YouGov poll.
One of the biggest concerns Democrats have about Harris’ low polling numbers is that vice presidents typically use the time around the midterm elections to drum up support for the party in key congressional districts.
However, with her polling numbers as low as they are right now, Harris may not be able to excite crowds and win them over if she were to take to the road. The 2022 midterm elections are especially crucial, as Democrats are trying to hold onto their slim majorities in the Senate and House, while Republicans are trying to win back control of both chambers.
A Democratic strategist told The Hill:
“As of right now, I think she has the potential of doing more harm than good for some of these candidates. My sense is she’ll probably raise a lot of money and maybe she’ll go to some specific districts, but they’ll have to be really strategic with her.
“She doesn’t have the standing at this moment to go to a lot of these tighter districts.”
In other words, Harris is an unreliable Democrat to send out to the entire country. If she’s sent to the wrong region, it could end up actually backfiring and flipping a district to the GOP.
Even some of the vice president’s biggest allies have skepticism about whether she’ll have an easy go of it during the midterm races. One of her allies said:
“No one is coming out and saying she’s doing an amazing job, because the first question would be ‘On what?’ She’s made a bunch of mistakes and she’s made herself a story for good and bad.”
One of the biggest topics where Harris has stumbled is over the border. Biden named her head of the southern border crisis, which could have elevated her reputation, but instead, she boggled that.
She told immigrants “don’t come here” when she held a press conference, which angered many progressives within her own party. She also refused to visit the southern border for a while, taking trips south of the border instead.
