(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- After two days of humiliating defeats, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA 20th District) huddled with his critics in a private meeting on Wednesday.
Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Republican from Florida’s first congressional district, attacked McCarthy after the meeting.
Representative Gaetz told reporters that he’s a desperate guy whose vote share is declining with every succeeding vote and that he was ready to vote all night, all week, all month, and never for that person.
During a Twitter Space discussion on Wednesday night, Rep. Matt Gaetz gave insights on the negotiations about who will be Speaker of the House.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), whom he had previously criticized, came up as the subject changed, and he said that the contest for speaker was “blood in the water.”
Gaetz added that the Republican Party and Washington need to reform since McCarthy “sort of symbolizes a lot of the worst elements that are the Republican Party and the worst aspects of Washington right now.”
Therefore, Gaetz said, “I am a supporter of Lauren Boebert.”
He said McCarthy couldn’t be trusted with genuine power because if you can’t wake this guy up every day and put him in a straight jacket right after the prayer of the pledge, where he is a disembodied portrait, you can’t trust him around actual power because everyone knows what he does with it. “He sells it to the lobbyists and the special interests for money he redistributes. It is a crazy game that you almost never want to win.”
Gaetz said there is blood in the water in response to the question of whether anyone wanted to be the Speaker. Three distinct camps sent him contact information asking, “What are your thoughts about this person?” “How would you characterize that person?”
“What’s the plan?’ is one that I receive the most,” Gaetz said.
