New Bill Could Ban Children From Attending Drag Queen Shows

( Last week, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene announced on Twitter that she would be introducing legislation to make it illegal for minors to attend drag shows.

On Tuesday, a video was posted by Libs of TikTok that showed an outdoor “family-friendly” drag show hosted by a New Jersey bakery. According to Libs of TikTok, during the event, children were handing the drag performer tips, including one possible minor who stuffed the cash into the guy’s bra.

Congresswoman Greene quote-tweeted the video and suggested that it should be illegal for adults to take children to these age-inappropriate drag shows. She suggested there was no difference between having a child tip a stripper and this.

Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Eric Adams defended sending drag queens to public schools and libraries last Thursday, arguing that their presence helps promote “a love of diversity.”

A few days earlier, the New York Post reported that since 2018, the city had paid $207,000 to Drag Story Hour NYC to have drag queens read books to students in high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools in the city.

Mayor Adams defended the move, claiming the education system should be used not just to ensure children are “academically smart” but also ensure they are “emotionally intelligent.” And the men dressed up as women reading books in public schools and libraries “are advancing a love of diversity, personal expression, and literacy.” Adams added that these are at the core of “what our city embraces.”
