Paul Manafort Removed From Plane

( Last week, officials at Miami International Airport removed Paul Manafort from a flight to Dubai because the passport he carried had been revoked.

Miami-Dade Police confirmed that Manafort was removed without incident from the Emirates Airline flight to Dubai last Sunday night, but refused to provide any further details about the matter.

According to the Associated Press, Miami-Dade detective Alvaro Zabaleta referred further questions to Customs and Border Protection. However, CBP did not respond to the AP’s request for comment.

Paul Manafort briefly served as Donald Trump’s campaign manager during the 2016 presidential campaign. However, he was ousted from the campaign in August 2016 after reports surfaced linking Manafort to business deals in Ukraine where he once worked as an advisor to Ukraine’s former pro-Russian president, Viktor Yanukovych.

Manafort was later indicted as part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s ridiculous investigation into so-called Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, though his indictment has nothing to do with “Russian collusion.”

Prosecutors accused Manafort of illegally concealing income earned from political work overseas while obtaining millions in bank loans.

In August 2018, a federal jury convicted Paul Manafort on eight counts of bank and tax fraud while a mistrial was declared on ten other charges.

In 2019, the 72-year-old Manafort was sentenced to seven years in prison but was released in May 2020 due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. While Manafort did not meet the guidelines for COVID release, the Bureau of Prisons decided to let him out because of his age and poor health.

In December 2020, former President Trump pardoned Manafort.
