(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- You might remember the story from last week when the husband of failed presidential candidate and current Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, revealed that he was struggling to pay rent on his Washington, D.C. apartment.
The story went viral, for obvious reasons, given that Buttigieg earns a salary of $221,400 – which is significantly more than most families across the United States.
The comment was so egregious that even the brother of Pete Buttigieg’s husband has come out againnst the pair, describing how they have “lost touch with reality.
Ryhan Glezman, the brother of Chasten Buttigieg, is a pastor from Michigan – so hardly the kind of person who would needlessly shame or bully members of his own family. So his comment that the pair have embodied a kind of “victim mentality” should be taken seriously.
Speaking to the press, he said that living with that kind of victim mentality will “suck the joy out of life” and that it’s what he can see happening with these recent comments.
Glezman added that if you’re making over $200,000 per year from a salary and o profiting from book sales, you can’t say that you can’t afford to live – otherwise, you’re losing touch with reality.
Buttigieg’s apartment is reportedly $4,500 per month. There are plenty of apartments in the Washington, D.C. area that cost less than that – but it doesn’t matter anyway, because he can clearly afford it.
Buttigieg once tried to make political capital out of not being a millionaire, claiming during the presidential debates to be the only non-millionaire on the stage. It looks like he’s continuing with that trend.
