Poll Shows People Prefer Trump’s Leadership Over Biden’s

(TheLibertyRevolution.Com)- A new poll found that a plurality of Americans believe President Donald Trump is a better leader during the coronavirus pandemic than Democratic candidate Joe Biden would be.
That’s according to 1,990 people surveyed in a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll that was released on Wednesday. Of those surveyed, 44% believed Trump was a better leader than Biden, with only 36% saying the former vice president would be better at the helm.
Still, both the president and former vice president trailed former President Barack Obama when it came to respondents’ confidence. Of those polled, 52% said Obama would be a better person to lead the country through this crisis than Trump would be.
The coronavirus pandemic and the government’s response to it have quickly become the central point of the campaigns for the General Election in November. The pandemic has basically grinded most of the presidential campaigning to a complete halt, with the Democratic primary race between Biden and Bernie Sanders taking a huge back seat to national and international policy regarding the virus.
Biden has shifted much of his focus to an online platform, hosting news briefings and “town halls” from his home in Delaware. That has been his way of countering the messaging from Trump, who has been on national TV almost every day during the pandemic.
Earlier this week, Trump and Biden spoke on the phone about the government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak. That was after Trump initially suggested that Biden’s suggestion for a phone call never came to fruition, tweeting:
“Joe Biden wanted the date for the Democrat National Convention moved to a later time period. Now he wants a ‘Virtua’ Convention, one where he doesn’t have to show up. Gee, I wonder why? Also, what ever happened to that phone call he told the Fake News he wanted to make to me?”
That call eventually took place on Monday, with Kate Bedingfield, the deputy campaign manager and communications director for Biden, saying in a statement:
“Vice President Biden and President Trump had a good call. VP Biden shared several suggestions for actions the administration can take now to address the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and expressed his appreciation for the spirit of the American people in meeting the challenges facing the nation.”
Despite the call, Trump and Biden have been throwing jabs at each other throughout the coronavirus pandemic. Trump suggested recently that Andrew Cuomo, who has been a central figure recently as governor of New York, would “be a better candidate than sleepy Joe.”
For his part, Biden has attacked Trump for what he called the “colossal” failure in getting coronavirus testing ramped up quickly. He also said the volatility of the stock market has been the result of Trump’s lack of leadership during the pandemic.
Trump responded in statements saying that Biden has shown, in the past, “terrible judgment and incompetence in the face of public health issues.”
And so, the fight goes on, even as the coronavirus takes center stage in the world
