(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Anatoly Chubais, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s top officials, has reportedly quit his position in the Kremlin and fled the country. Reports suggest that Chubais, a “veteran” envoy for the Kremlin, has left Russia and been spotted in Turkey.
Chubais’ resignation is a major hit for the Russian president, given his role in helping the Russian leader communicate with a multitude of international organizations and also offering economic advice.
…economic advice that would no doubt be useful at a time of increasingly severe sanctions on Russia.
Chubais was also one of the men behind former Russian leader Boris Yeltsin’s economic reforms in the 1990s, that helped Russia become a more economically liberal and prosperous state. However, he has been blamed by many Russians for allowing a select and small group of major Russian business people to take control over formerly state-owned assets.
Dmitry Peskov, the top Kremlin spokesman, confirmed that Chubais had left the government and said that he made his own decision and was not forced out. He had worked with the Russian president since 2020, and is now presumably in danger of being found and killed overseas. Like Putin has done with several other former allies who turned on him.
Chubais has not, however, publicly commented on his resignation – or told people where he went.
He’s also not the only major public figure who has left Russia in protest of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine, with large numbers of other big names joining him in Turkey. Others have reportedly traveled to Finland, Kyrgyzstan, and Georgia.
