(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Every year, the Muslim holy month of Ramadan brings with it waves of violence across the Middle East and Africa. This year was particularly violent, with data suggesting that Jihadists committed around 30% more attacks than last year. Some 242 attacks were carried out by Islamic extremists, compared to 187 last year.
The data suggests an average of eight attacks were carried out this year, whereas six were committed on average last year. It was clear three weeks into the holy month that the numbers would exceed last year, though the data also shows that the attacks became less lethal towards the end of the month.
The interactive map below shows you all the attacks that took place over the 30 days of Ramadan, from the first full day of Ramadan on April 24, until May 23.
On average, of the eight attacks committed daily, 29 people were killed daily and another 27 injured. Many of the people who are injured during these attacks are also Muslims, as Jihadists continue bloody wars across the Middle East and Africa over territory and ideological disputes. Many of the people are also non-Muslims who fall victim to Islamic attacks in the name of serving their extremist ideological position.
A total of 1,680 people were killed and injured this year, however, meaning that last year’s Ramadan was more deadly despite there being fewer attacks. 1,917 people were butchered in attacks during the holy month of Ramadan last year.
According to data compiled by Breitbart, Jihadis have killed more than 10,000 people over the last five Ramadans. 421 were killed in 2016, 1,639 in 2017, 841 in 2018, 911 in 2019, and 867 in 2020.
The Taliban in Afghanistan remain consistently the biggest group of murderers in Ramadan. This year they were responsible for 423 deaths and 379 injuries. The Islamic State, or what’s left of it, took 228 lives and wounded 258.
Islamic State, despite falling behind in numbers, committed the bloodiest attack this year which killed 32 people and wounded a total of 133.
