Researchers: One-THIRD of Americans May Already Be Immune to COVID-19

How the Coronavirus Affects the World

(TheLibertyRevolution.Com)- Researchers from the Massachusetts General Hospital discovered this month that as many as one-third of Americans may have already asymptomatically contracted the Chinese coronavirus and may now be immune.

Hospital researchers asked random people from the streets of Chelsea, Massachusetts, whether they would be willing to take a blood test to see if they already have COVID-19 antibodies. These antibodies are produced by the body when a person is infected, and so if they are traced in the blood, it means a person already had the disease and is now immune to it.

The study, while limited, turned up some incredible results. It found that one-third of those who were randomly tested already had the antibodies, and many of those people don’t recall exhibiting extreme symptoms in recent weeks and months.

The study looked at 200 residents, and 64 were found to be immune to the virus. Those who were tested were otherwise fairly healthy, but researchers did tell the press that roughly half of those who tested described having some mild coronavirus symptoms over the last thirty days. Most, however, didn’t think it was the Wuhan virus as the symptoms were so minor.

The vice-chairman of the hospital’s pathology department, Dr. John Lafrate, told The Boston Globe how he felt about the results.

“I think it’s both good and bad news,” he said. “The bad news is that there’s a raging epidemic in Chelsea, and many people walking on the street don’t know whether they’re carrying the virus and that they may be exposing uninfected individuals in their families.”

“On the good-news side,” he continued, “it suggests that Chelsea has made its way through a good part of the epidemic. They’re probably further along than other towns.”

The data set is small, so it’s unlikely that the numbers are exactly the same on a national basis, but it does offer hope that the virus may not be with us for as long as experts believe it will. More widespread testing will allow researchers to understand the rate at which this virus spreads, and give us an idea of just how many people have already been infected.

The city manager of Chelsea, Thomas Ambrosino, told the same local news outlet that the result of the study confirmed suspicious they already had about the spread of the disease.

“We’ve long thought that the reported numbers are vastly under-counting what the actual infection is,” he said.

This could be true anywhere else in the United States!
