Ron DeSantis Says Kids Won’t Need Masks Soon

( Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is just getting more popular by the minute, announcing on Tuesday that he plans to allow children to return to school for the fall semester. DeSantis made the announcement during a bill signing ceremony and added that children should no longer be required to wear masks while studying.

Can you imagine study all day and being forced to wear a mask?

DeSantis explained how children “do not need to be wearing these masks” – something that scientists have long agreed with. Even during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, virologists and biologists knew that the virus rarely infected or harmed young children and was mostly dangerous to adults and elderly people.

“I’m sorry, they don’t,” DeSantis emphasized in his speech. “We need to be able to let them be kids and let them act normally.”

The comments drew immediate applause and support from everyone in the room, but you know Democrats are bound to be appalled by the idea.

“Our direction is fairly simple,” he continued. “Have a normal school year.”

Despite two executive orders signed by Governor DeSantis last week, which suspend all COVID-19 emergency orders issued by Florida’s local governments, some schools are still telling students to mask up.

As it stands, schools across Duval, Nassau, Clay, Putnam, and St. Johns counties are still required to wear masks, and schools in Baker, Columbia, Union, and Bradford counties have made the wearing of masks optional.

The news that those requirements will be totally removed – unless schools start interfering and saying otherwise – will come as a relief to children struggling to get to grips with learning while covering their face.
