(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Former Rep. Katie Hill, a Democrat from California, once forged a strange and unlikely friendship in Congress with Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, after he defended her over claims that she had a sexual relationship with a staffer. It’s the incident that ultimately led to her resignation, and now that Gaetz is at the center of a sex scandal of his own, Hill has expressed her opinion on the matter publicly.
In an op-ed published by Vanity Fair, Hill said that if there’s even a “fraction of truth” to the allegations that Gaetz absolutely should resign.
It comes after a New York Times report alleged that Gaetz was at the center of an investigation relating to charges that he traveled across state lines with a 17-year-old girl – effectively a sex trafficking accusation. Gaetz is accused of sharing naked images of women to other members of Congress and having a sexual relationship with a girl under the age of 18.
Gaetz denies all the allegations and claims that he is at the center of a multi-million-dollar extortion plot, which is being investigated by the FBI. On Monday, he doubled down on that claim, and said that he is “absolutely not resigning.”
“My lifestyle of yesteryear may be different from how I live now, but it was not and is not illegal,” he wrote.
“ I defended Rep. Katie Hill’s “throuple” when her own Democratic colleagues wouldn’t. I just didn’t think it was anyone’s business,” he added.
Gaetz said that it was no surprise that his political opponents wanted to “sensationalize and criminalize” his prior sex life, which seemed almost close to admitting the charges. At this point, it remains a little confusing what Gaetz actually admits to and what he denies.
Even Tucker Carlson said his interview with the controversial Republican congressman was the most bizarre interview of his career.
“My personal life is and always has been conducted on my own time and my own dime. Consensual adult relationships are not illegal. Although I’m sure some partisan crooks in Merrick Garland’s Justice Department want to pervert the truth and the law to go after me, I will not be intimidated or extorted,” he said.
Gaetz even warned people that they will see more “drip, drip, drip” of leaks to the media from the “corrupt Justice Department” and said that they are really going after his voters by using him as a target.
