Trump Says Anthony Fauci Is “Full Of Crap”

( Former President Donald Trump no longer has any reason to be polite about Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the White House Coronavirus Task Force who has repeatedly flip-flopped on the issue of lockdowns and masks.

According to the Washington Post, President Donald Trump gave a speech at his luxury Mar-A-Lago resort on Saturday evening, at an event for wealthy GOP donors. During the speech, the former president laid into Anthony Fauci.

“Have you ever seen anybody that is so full of crap?” he asked.

The president also joked about Fauci’s baseball skills, referencing the ceremonial first pitch that the public health official threw last year.

Remember that?

But the former president’s criticism of Fauci goes much beyond joking. President Donald Trump reportedly repeatedly planned to fire Fauci, though ultimately chose not to during a delicate balancing act of not appearing too aggressive while juggling his presidential campaign and managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fauci and Trump butted heads repeatedly during 2020. The former president originally planned for the United States economy to open up last Easter, but Dr. Fauci strongly opposed the idea, and ultimately changed is mind on national mask mandates. The public health official first told Americans not to wear masks, only to change his mind and encourage politicians to implement sweeping mask mandates.

Fauci then reversed course on his opposition to “double masking.”

Speaking last year on Lisa Boothe’s podcast, President Trump said that he thought “rather than firing him, you know, I listened to him, but I didn’t do what he said because frankly his record is not a god record.”

And now that he’s out of office, President Trump doesn’t need to be so polite.

Trump also still has the support of his party.

A recent poll by the Economist and YouGov found that 66% of Republicans trust the former president on COVID-19, rather than public health officials like Dr. Anthony Fauci.

And it’s not hard to see why.

Imagine just how different the COVID-19 pandemic would have been if President Trump followed his gut and fired Anthony Fauci last spring?
