U. S. Hiring Takes A Tumble

(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- President Joe Biden is claiming that America is “on track,” but the April jobs numbers for this year tell a very different story.

Instead of the “Super V” recovery that President Donald Trump was overseeing during the final months of his presidency, President Joe Biden is watching a timid and slow recovery nationally with only 266,000 new jobs added in April this year.

That’s officially the worst month for jobs since the Great Depression. Just let that sink in for a moment.

The April jobs report, which was published on Friday by the Labor Department, showed the U.S. economy falling short of the one million jobs that were predicted by economists. It’s easily the weakest monthly gain since January, too – the final month of the Trump presidency.

And while President Biden tried to hail the news a victory and a sign that his policies are working – albeit slowly – the jobs numbers were accompanied by an increase in unemployment. That figure now sits at 6.1% compared to March’s 6%.

With Americans taking COVID-19 vaccinations in record numbers and many states allowing businesses to start reopening, you might be forgiven for thinking President Biden could have done better, but clearly things aren’t working out.

Sung Won Sohn, a professor of finance and economics at the Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, said that the unemployment gain is “understated in part because of the generous largess from Washington.”

Ie, people don’t want to go back to work because Washington keeps handing out huge sums of money.

The academic also described how short-staffed restaurant owners are working overtimes and truck drivers are impossible to find, even after dramatic increases in hourly wages.

And not only did April’s numbers look abysmal, but March’s numbers were also revised down to 770,000 new jobs as opposed to the original 916,000 that were reported.

Maybe it’s time for the Democrats to start asking if high unemployment benefits are encouraging people to stay out of work…
