(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- Roberta Jacobson, the former ambassador to Mexico who was chosen by President Joe Biden to be his border czar, has officially announced her resignation following the rapid increase of illegal aliens storming the southern border. It comes as Jacobson faces increasing pressure from legislators for the crisis on the southern border.
The crisis that the Biden administration still refuses to call a crisis.
National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, however, attempted to play down the resignation, saying it was “consistent with her commitment to serve in the administration’s first 100 days.”
Sullivan had kind words to say about Jacobson, saying she had worked to improve the relationship between the United States and Mexico, which was already pretty strong after President Donald Trump’s sweeping reforms to the border that resulted in Mexico spending more money and resources on stopping illegal aliens crossing the country to enter the United States.
Her resignation comes as the number of illegal aliens apprehended on the southern border rose by roughly 100% in March over February, with 172,000 illegal aliens being apprehended by border officials.
The Biden administration has so far blamed the Trump administration for the sheer number of illegal aliens crossing the border, but has failed to provide any compelling evidence or explanation of how that could possibly be the case.
In a short interview announcing her resignation, Jacobson said that she leaves “optimistically.”
About someone else doing a better job?
“They continued to drive toward the architecture that the president has laid out: an immigration system that is human, orderly, and safe,” she said. “I leave optimistically. The policy direction is so clearly right for our country.”
Jacobson did not explain which direction she believes is “right” for the country.
Vice President Kamala Harris will now lead the efforts to manage the huge influx of illegal aliens on the border, after President Joe Biden made the announcement last month. However, Vice President Harris has yet to travel down to the border, has said that she has no plans to travel to the border, and has not yet even explored the possibility of returning to Trump-era policy that dramatically cut the number of illegal crossings over the last four years.
Ronna McDaniel, the chairwoman of the Republican Party, said that “crisis manager” Kamala Harris “laughs at the idea of visiting the border” and called it a “complete failure of leadership.”

Over the weekend, Fox News also reported how Harris had gone a total of 18 days without a news conference since being tapped to take over the management of the border crisis.
