(TheLibertyRevolution.com) -During the CNN/Univision debate on Sunday, moderators gave Democratic presidential Joe Biden a pass to tell blatant lies, completely ignoring the fact that he told the world he was arrested in South Africa.
When he wasn’t arrested in South Africa.
Throughout the campaign trail, Joe Biden was recorded telling people that he was arrested during his trip to South Africa to meet Nelson Mandela. During a South Carolina rally, Biden said”
“I had the great honor of meeting [Mandela]. I had the great honor of being arrested with our U.N. ambassador on the streets of Soweto trying to get to see him on Robbens Island.”
But he didn’t. In fact, Biden was quickly forced to admit he wasn’t telling the truth when a former member of the Congressional Black Caucus told reports that the claim was untrue. What’s more, reporters discovered that Biden hadn’t made the claim in a memoir he published in 2007 – odd, given it was such an explosive claim.
“If Mr. Biden, then a United States senator from Delaware, was in fact arrested while trying to visit Mr. Mandela, he did not mention it in his 2007 memoir when writing about a 1970s trip to South Africa, Thomas Kaplan and Katie Glueck wrote in New York Times piece.
Incredibly, this topic didn’t come up at all in the CNN debate. Neither Dana Bash or Jake Tapper asked Biden about the blatant lie, and incredibly his opponent didn’t touch it either.
This is despite the fact that his explanation for lying is just so incredibly transparent.
Speaking to CNN previously, attempting to justify the lie, Biden said:
“When I said ‘arrested,’ I meant I was not able, I was not able to move. The cops, the Afrikaners, didn’t let me go with them, they made me stay where I was. I wasn’t arrested, I was stopped. I was not able to move where I wanted to go.”
That isn’t what being arrested means, Joe.
People picked up on the incredible lack of accountability on display from CNN that night, too.
The Hill journalist Joe Concha asked on Twitter. And so did many others.
That question to Biden about getting arrested while trying to see Nelson Mandela is coming any moment now…

So why, exactly, did CNN not think that was important enough to cover?
