Man Confesses To Murder Attempt On Wife In Front Of Children

A few days after Christmas 2022, a father of three in New York City told his children to put on their seatbelts before he plowed over their mother with his SUV, jumped out, and stabbed her in the abdomen.

A report shows that the Queens resident contacted the police and said he may have slain his wife.
Stephen Giraldo, 36, is accused of telling police that he struck his wife and to arrest him. The cops recovered the knife he had discarded on the exterior of the home.

As a result of the assault, Stephen Giraldo’s estranged wife, Sophia Giraldo, 41, suffered serious neurological impairment, and the woman survived, according to a statement released by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.

Giraldo will likely spend the next quarter of a century behind bars when he is sentenced this October.
A report revealed that Giraldo’s arrival at the victim’s house in a white Ford Explorer was captured on surveillance footage. Their children, aged 6, 9, and 11, were due to be dropped off by him. Prosecutors claim that after the kids’ mother walked to the car, Giraldo urged them to keep their seatbelts on and stepped on the accelerator.

Security video showed the white Ford Explorer abruptly accelerating into the victim and crashing into the side of a home around 5 a.m. Police said Giraldo was driving an SUV that crashed into the fence in front of a residence and rolled onto its side. According to witnesses, Giraldo exited the SUV and attacked his wife, Sophia.

Police said life coach and podcaster Sophia Giraldo was taken to Booth Memorial Hospital in serious condition after suffering significant damage to the body.

Assault, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment, and two counts of attempted murder were filed against Stephen Giraldo after he was brought into custody.

Neighbors expressed surprise at the chaos that had broken out in their usually tranquil Queens community.
