(TheLibertyRevolution.com)- According to a report, Sen. Joe Manchin (D- West Virginia) was put on the spot by Maria Bartiromo on Sunday about whether or not he still considers himself a Democrat and whether or not he intends to run for re-election in 2024.
During a conversation with the senator on Bartiromo’s show “Sunday Morning Futures,” the host attempted to force him to clarify which post, if any, he plans to run for in 2024 or beyond.
Bartiromo asked Manchin about an interview he recently gave on a radio program where he said he wouldn’t be running for the presidency. She wanted to know if he would seek re-election to the Senate.
Manchin said his main concern was how we could unite our country and how we could make it work. How do we get Democrats and Republicans to once again see themselves as Americans rather than as party affiliates? This is exactly what is taking place right now. We are driving a wedge between people, forcing them to choose a side and rewarding them when they misbehave.
The video showed Bartiromo questioning whether or not he still considered himself to be a Democrat.
In his response, Manchin said that he considered himself to be an American. A true blue American in every sense of the word.
Last December, ABC News reported Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona announced that she would leave the Democrat Party to become an Independent. Three days later, Senator Joe Manchin said he had thought about becoming an Independent one day.
In a presser, the West Virginian Democrat claimed he was currently the most independent individual in the Senate. He also acknowledged that he had previously contemplated changing his party allegiance.
Reports show that Manchin did not rule out the possibility of quitting the Democrat party. He only said that he did not have any intention to do so at the time.
